Moscow. September 16. INTERFAX-JSC " Baltic Shipbuilding Plant "Yantar" will accelerate the construction of two large amphibious assault ships (BDK) of project 11711, JSC "United Shipbuilding Corporation" said on Thursday following a meeting held at the shipyard by Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko.

"At the meeting, it was noted that shipbuilders are ready to accelerate the construction of two large amphibious ships of the 11711 project, despite the technical difficulties that have arisen," the corporation said in a statement.

"Yantar" was visited by Krivoruchko, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Ryazantsev and Deputy General Director of USC Andrey Buzinov. The delegation inspected the production facilities and got acquainted with the progress of the construction of delivery orders and the reconstruction of the completion embankment, the report says.

"We continue to work on the construction and delivery of a number of military and civilian ships, including within the framework of international cooperation. As part of the cluster cooperation of enterprises of the shipbuilding industry of the region, we are participating in the construction of an electric ferry and are planning the construction of catamaran - type boats of the Dobrynya project, "said Ilya Samarin, General Director of Yantar, about the plant's fulfillment of the state defense order and orders under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

As reported, in April 2019, two BDK of the improved project 11711 were laid at once at Yantar - "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin". These ships will be slightly different from the previous project. They will be larger in size - in length and width. Nah has designed one superstructure and more spacious interior spaces and a helipad. The first ship should be commissioned in 2023, the second-in 2024.

It was reported that the developer of this project "Nevsky Design Bureau" with delays transmits to the plant updated documentation necessary for construction.

Earlier, Yantar built two BDK projects 11711 for the Russian Navy - " Ivan Gren "in June 2018 and" Peter Morgunov " in December 2020. Both ships became part of the Northern Fleet.
