This operation will make it possible to prepare the laboratory module for the arrival of the new Berth node module on the ISS.
"Now there is a special adapter (ring-pad) located at the docking node of the Nauka module, which allows the Russian Soyuz MS and Progress MS ships to dock, so the Progress MS-17 cargo ship will take it with it when it is finally undocked with the station. After such a two-stage check, the Berth module will be docked to the docking node, the launch of which is scheduled for the end of November this year," Roscosmos reported.
