Thanks to the best maneuverability and avionics, the Russian Su-35 fighter will win the French Rafale in a dogfight at a distance of visibility, the South African magazine Ultimate Defense says in a special issue dedicated to the Army-2021 forum. The assessment of the publication drew attention to TASS .
The publication notes the on-board radar station N035 "Irbis", which allows the Su-35 to detect targets like the Rafale at a range of about 270 kilometers. At the same time, the French aircraft, according to South Africa, is able to detect the Russian one at a range of only 120 kilometers.
According to Ultimate Defense, this circumstance allows the Su-35 to be the first to detect the Rafale and open fire to kill. The publication notes that the capabilities of the Russian fighter are expanded by long-range missiles.
In July, the Polish portal Defence24, referring to the Egyptian press, reported that the French Rafale fighter defeated the Russian Su-35 in a training air battle. According to the publication, the victory of the Rafale over the Su-35 was ensured by the Self-Protection Equipment to Counter Threats for Rafale Aircraft (SPECTRA) of the first, which "drowned out" the radar of the second. Defence24 claims that the reason for the Rafale's victory was the use of outdated technologies on the Su-35, but admits that the French fighter cost Egypt almost twice as much as the Russian one.
