Moscow. September 15. INTERFAX-Tests of a new river boat for the border service of the FSB of Russia have been completed, it will soon begin service, the Vimpel shipbuilding plant (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region) reported.
"On September 14, 2021, the state commission signed an acceptance certificate for the patrol boat of the project 1496M1 "Manatee" in river execution. In the near future, the Manatee will be handed over to the customer and will begin service, " the plant said in a statement.
"River" Manatee " has passed a full range of acceptance tests: high-speed, maneuverable, seaworthy, during which he confirmed all the tactical and technical characteristics stated in the project, " the plant said.
They noted that the boat project was developed taking into account the requirements of the border service of the FSB of Russia to improve tactical and technical characteristics and habitability.
"Manatee" of project 1496M1 factory No. 01409 is designed to monitor compliance with established regimes on inland waterways and in the coastal zone of the seas, detain infringing vessels and deliver inspection groups to them, as well as to transport personnel in the interests of border authorities. The boat is equipped with modern radio equipment, two combat modules, " the report says.
It is noted that the small draft of the boat allows you to perform tasks on rivers with a shallow depth and approach the shore for landing with the help of a bow ramp.
