Moscow. September 14. INTERFAX-The Russian military in Kamchatka conducted an exercise to eliminate the ships of a conditional enemy in the Pacific Ocean with missiles of the Bal coastal complex, the Pacific Fleet said on Tuesday.
"A division of the Bal coastal anti-ship missile system from the missile compound of Troops and forces in the north-east of Russia performed electronic launches on ships of a simulated enemy in the Pacific Ocean as part of a tactical exercise," the fleet's press service said.
"The rocket scientists found surface targets from the launch positions, took them for escort, identified them and conditionally hit them at the maximum distance with X-35 missiles," the fleet said.
According to him, the role of a conditional enemy was performed by a small rocket ship "Smerch". Its crew maneuvered at high speeds with the setting of active and passive interference at a distance from the coastline from 10 to 100 nautical miles, the military said.
"In total, more than 150 servicemen and about 20 units of military equipment were involved in the tactical exercise," the report says.
