The Russian research vessel "Yantar", engaged in the study of the World Ocean, scared the British. It appeared near the territorial waters of Great Britain.

The British expert Sutton drew attention to the appearance of "Amber" off the coast of Ireland. In his opinion, the oceanographic vessel is also a hunter for underwater communications. In an article published by the UK Defense Journal, they wrote that the tasks of the" Amber " include reconnaissance, damage to underwater cables. All this, according to journalists, can be done by the deep-sea vehicles AS-37 " Rus "of the project 16810 and "Consul" of the project 16811, capable of diving to a depth of up to 6 thousand meters.

Meanwhile, the British military department replied that it was aware of the presence of the ship off the west coast of Ireland. "Yantar" is located outside the territorial waters of the country. Its activities comply with the rules of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea for Transit through International Waters. The publication recalled that the "Amber" was also used for search and rescue operations, in particular, to help in the search for the missing Argentine submarine ARA San Juan in 2017.

Yantar is an oceanographic research vessel of the project 22010. It was built at the Baltic Shipbuilding Plant "Yantar" under a contract with the Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In addition to the "Rus" and "Consul" vehicles, the deep-sea inhabited vehicle "Mir"can be used. In 2017, the ship found Su-33 and MiG-29KR fighters from the Admiral Kuznetsov air wing at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Assigned to the Northern Fleet.
