The MULINO LANDFILL (Nizhny Novgorod region), 13 Sep-RIA Novosti. The Russian military for the first time used the Uran-9 and Nerekhta reconnaissance and fire support robots in the combat formations of combined-arms units, the Defense Ministry reported.
So, "Uran-9" within the framework of the strategic exercises "West-2021" suppressed the manpower and armored vehicles of a conditional enemy at a distance of three to five kilometers, using Ataka missile systems, rocket-propelled infantry flamethrowers, 30-millimeter cannons and machine guns.
In addition, they covered motorized rifle units when changing positions.
The Nerekhta robots were used for reconnaissance and fire support of units. They are armed with a 12.7-mm Kord machine gun and a 30-mm AG-30M grenade launcher. "Nerekhta" is able to adjust the fire, deliver ammunition and equipment.
Also, for making passages in minefields, the Uran-6 mine clearance complexes were used.
The actions of the robots were provided by the tactical laser complex "Quarry", which allows detecting and suppressing optical means of reconnaissance and surveillance.
From September 10 to 16, joint strategic exercises "West-2021"are being held at nine training grounds in Russia, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds in Belarus.
In total, up to 200 thousand personnel, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships, take part in them.
