For the first time, the T-80UE-1 conducts joint training operations with the BMD-4M at the Zapad-2021 strategic exercises.
The paratroopers have their own T-72B3, but it was decided to work out tasks with gas turbine main battle tanks during these maneuvers.
Before the appearance of the T-80BVM, this modification was considered the most modern among the serial machines of the "eighties" family. A thermal imaging sight "Plisa" was installed on it, which allows detecting enemy armored vehicles at a distance of 3500 meters. Therefore, the infrared searchlight, which was available on the earlier T-80U, was dismantled, and additional dynamic protection units were placed in its place.
The main armament is an updated 125-mm 2A46M4 cannon, capable of using armor-piercing sub-caliber shells on tanks at a distance of 2500 meters and guided missiles capable of overcoming up to 5000 meters. Ammunition-44 shots. There is a paired 7.62-mm machine gun and a closed 12.7-mm anti-aircraft gun.
The engine power is 1250 hp. The maximum speed is 70 km/h on the highway and 60 km/h on dirt roads. The fuel reserve is 440 km. There is equipment for overcoming water obstacles along the bottom with a depth of 5 m.
As for the BMD-4M, it surpasses even some light tanks in its firepower. A 100-mm rifled gun, a rapid-firing 30-mm automatic cannon and a 7.62-mm machine gun are simultaneously mounted in its turret.
Engine - 500 hp. Speed-up to 70 km/h on land, 45 km/h - on a dirt road, and 10 km/h - on water. The power reserve is 500 km. Weight - 14000 kg. The crew consists of 3 people and 4-5 paratroopers.
According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, during these exercises, the BMD-4M crews at the Strugi Krasnye training ground worked out a new element of tactical combat - the fire defeat of a conditional enemy from closed positions, while intelligence was transmitted by Orlan-type drones.
