TSAMTO, September 13. The Turkish company Roketsan has developed a new 122-mm rocket ammunition with a laser guidance system. The munition was first presented in August at the IDEF-2021 exhibition under the designation TRLG-122.
As reported by Armyrecognition.com, the 122-mm TRLG-122 RS, equipped with a laser GPS, is an improved version of the TRG-122 guided missile, designed to provide high-precision destruction of ground targets at a longer range compared to standard 122-mm RS.
For reference: the mass of the TRG-122, including a high-explosive or high-explosive warhead weighing 18.4 kg, is 72 kg, the CVO does not exceed 15 m. The TRG-122 is equipped with a satellite or combined GPS/inertial guidance system.
Despite the ongoing work to verify the design of the TRLG-122, Roketsan expects to sign the first contract for its delivery within a year, followed by its launch into mass production.
The TRLG-122 is equipped with an inertial navigation system and a semi-active laser GPS, which is capable of detecting the signal reflected from the illuminated target in real time, calculating the angle of the line of sight and calculating data for aiming at the target.
The starting weight of TLRG-122 is 76 kg. The RS is equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing 13.5 kg with ready-made striking elements. The launch range of the RS is 13-30 km. It is assumed that the ammunition will be used in conjunction with UAVs, which will provide targeting. The ammunition quota from the target will not exceed 2 m. It can be used to destroy artillery positions and air defense systems, troops on the march, buildings and structures, as well as high-priority targets.
At the IDEF-2021 exhibition, Roketsan also presented the previously developed TRLG-230 guided rocket munition equipped with a laser homing head. Presumably, the maximum firing range of the TRLG-230 is 70 km. According to Turkish media, these ammunition were used during the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh at the end of 2020.
