It will be used on the route of ships along the Northern Sea Route
MOSCOW, September 10. /TASS/. Specialists of JSC " Northern Press "(part of the corporation "Tactical Missile Weapons", KTRV) have created a radar station (radar) to track the ice situation in the Arctic. This was reported to TASS by the engineer of the enterprise Vadim Ralnikov.
"The high-latitude coherent station Parad 6X was created as part of the diversification of the defense industry. It is intended for use on the route of movement of ships along the Northern Sea Route. It will allow monitoring the ice situation. The radar has already passed preliminary tests and is ready for installation," Ralnikov said.
According to him, this radar will be able to track ice, cracks and hummocks. "This is a very urgent task in the north, where the ice is almost all year round. This task is especially relevant for covering the ice situation and preventing accidents and delays on the route near the port of Sabetta (an Arctic port on the western shore of the Ob Bay of the Kara Sea), " the company's representative said.
Ralnikov noted that the main task of this station is the Arctic application, but " in principle, everything has been done so that it can be used in the middle zone and in the south, including." "All the thermal tests of the radar have been passed," he added.
The station is capable of operating without maintenance for three and a half years. It allows you to transfer data to other locators. This can be any information (from an image to a weather report). In addition to monitoring the ice situation, the station is able to detect surface ships at a range of up to 30 miles.
For the first time, the Parad 6X radar was shown at the MVMS-2021 Naval Salon in St. Petersburg.
