On September 9, 2021, at the Zhongzheng Naval Base of the Navy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Suao (Yilan County), in the presence of the President of the Republic of China Tsai Ing-wen, a ceremony was held to introduce the lead missile corvette-catamaran "Tajiang" of the improved Tuo Jiang II project (tail number 619) into the Taiwanese Navy.
At the same time, the ceremony of commissioning the second minelayer of the Min Jiang project (with an automated system for setting sea mines) was held at this naval base. On December 4, 2018, Taiwanese media confirmed that Lung Teh Shipbuilding won the tender for the construction of 11 corvettes of the improved Tuo Jiang II project and 4 minelayers of the Min Jiang project . Taiwanese media dubbed the corvettes-catamarans as "aircraft carrier killers", referring to the opposition to the growing PLA Navy. The first three corvettes-catamarans should be introduced into the Navy of the Republic of China by 2022. The ship with a displacement of 685 tons is equipped with upgraded Hsiung Feng III RCC, which have a marching flight speed of about 3M and a firing range of up to 150-180 km.
