The Israeli company Elbit Systems has introduced a system for ARCAS submachine guns, which shows soldiers information about the combat situation, including the sources of fire and ammunition levels, in augmented reality. You can control the layers of information using the joystick on the front handle of the machine.
Weapons developers today offer various ways to increase the awareness of the military about the situation and improve their combat capability. For example, Hanwha Systems is developing an individual battlefield visualization system for the South Korean military. It will connect the weapons sights of soldiers with their smartphones, walkie-talkies and tactical communications equipment. This will allow the military to receive and share data on the combat situation in real time.
Elbit Systems has developed an artificial intelligence system for ARCAS automata for the same purpose. The company presented it on Thursday at the DSEI International Arms Exhibition in London. ARCAS is a microcomputer that is built into the machine and transmits information about the combat situation to an electron-optical sight or an eyepiece mounted on a fighter's helmet.

The microcomputer receives and processes data from the sight, command and control systems, other ARCAS users and the machine itself. Soldiers see information about the combat situation, including the sources of fire and ammunition levels, in augmented reality and control it using a joystick on the front handle of the weapon. The system has other functions, such as ballistic correction, video recording and target recognition.
The head of Elbit Systems, Ari Chernobrov, says that ARCAS looks like a video game. The company developed it not only for special services, but also for ordinary infantrymen. According to Elbit Systems, today in the world about 80 percent of infantry soldiers do not have modern sights on weapons.
Elbit Systems also creates other systems for the military. Earlier we wrote about its development by Iron Vision. This system provides tank crews with a full all-round view through the hull.
