The United States is concerned about the threat that can be carried by promising and modern single-engine aircraft of Russia and China. Analysts of Military Watch magazine compared the Russian Su-75 Checkmate with the Chinese J-10C fighter.
The authors of the material note that the Su-75 and J-10C are an affordable alternative to the fifth-generation twin-engine fighters. At the same time, both aircraft can carry modern short-range air-to-air missiles. The Russian R-74 missile and the Chinese PL-10 have similar characteristics, but the Chinese munition wins due to the ability to hit targets at "extreme angles," writes Military Watch.
Speaking about long-range missiles, the authors of the publication emphasize that the Russian R-37M missiles are among the best in the class. At the same time, the publication notes the high cost of the product, which leads to a low prevalence of the rocket. Meanwhile, the Chinese PL-15 missile is produced "on a much larger scale", and is installed on most Chinese aircraft, Military Watch summarizes.
The authors of the publication suggested that the Su-75 will receive a modification of the "Product 30" engine, which is being created for the Su-57. In this case, the thrust-to-weight ratio of the Russian aircraft will be higher than that of the J-10C. Also, the advantage of Checkmate can be low radar visibility, which will give the aircraft advantages at a distance. This is due to the fact that the promising aircraft belongs to the fifth generation.
In summary, the authors of The Military Watch note that Checkmate can become "a much greater threat to the interests of the West" than a Chinese plane. They justify their opinion on the potential prevalence of the Su-75, which is focused on the export market. The authors of the publication also suggested that Checkmate will become the cheapest stealth aircraft on the market.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the development of a light fighter of the fifth generation will take place without foreign investment. At the same time, foreign participation is not excluded in the project of creating an aircraft.
