The system will allow you to control the surface situation and prevent unauthorized navigation in the waters of the Northern Sea Route
MOSCOW, September 9. /TASS/. The Corporation "Tactical Missile Weapons" (KTRV) is engaged in the creation of a coastal surveillance system of the coastal Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, which will help ensure the safety of the Northern Sea Route. This was reported to TASS in the press service of KTRV.
"We are implementing the concept of creating a unified information space in the Russian Arctic. It involves the creation of a continuous radar field with the deployment of a network of unattended remotely controlled observation points, " the corporation said.
According to the press service, such observation points allow monitoring the surface situation at ranges from 50 to 200 km. "The data obtained will be useful for the Ministry of Defense, the dispatching services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Navy, the Border Service of the FSB of Russia and will help to ensure security, coordinate the use of the icebreaker fleet and form ice caravans," KTRV explained, adding that the unified system will also help prevent unauthorized navigation in the waters of the Northern Sea Route.
Unattended points are equipped with an autonomous power supply system with diesel and wind turbines. It is also planned to use drones in the system, which will measure the thickness of the ice. "Coastal locators cannot measure the thickness of the ice, and it is possible to do this from drones. Such work is underway. Also, if necessary, it can communicate with the ship, " the press service informed.
KTRV stressed that when creating observation posts, specialists paid attention to environmental issues: their installation will not violate the natural habitat of wild animals. "It is important that these are unattended posts. There is no operator sitting there, he does not go out with a gun and does not drive bears," the corporation noted.
