The military of one of the countries of Southeast Asia will receive jetpacks for the first time. The American company JetPack Aviation has signed a contract for the supply of two JB12 devices. According to the terms of the agreement, the satchels will be delivered within six months, according to The Drive, without specifying which country it is about.
According to the manufacturer, the weight of the JB12 is 105 pounds (about 47 kilograms). The device received six turbojet engines that provide flight speeds of up to 120 miles per hour (more than 193 kilometers per hour). The duration of the flight of the JB12 is not reported, but the JB11 model, on which the new backpack is based, could last in the air for about 10 minutes.
The jetpack received an automated flight control system that can detect a decrease in the thrust of one of the engines. The device automatically compensates for the loss by increasing the thrust of other engines.
The authors of The Drive emphasize that it is not yet known how the new customer will use JB12. It is worth noting that this is the first sale of a jetpack to the military. Earlier, representatives of JetPack Aviation signed an agreement on joint research and development with the US Navy (Navy). One of the units of the Special Operations Forces of the US Navy is interested in jetpacks.
Earlier, a prototype of a two-legged robot Jet-HR2 was presented in China. The device is notable for fans in the legs, which allow the robot to briefly break away from the surface. This allows the Jet-HR2 to overcome obstacles.
