YEKATERINBURG, September 8. /TASS/. The troops of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Novosibirsk and Samara regions, received eight Typhoonenok armored vehicles for the first time. This is stated in a message distributed on Wednesday by the press service of the district.
"Eight units of Kamaz-53949 Typhoonenok armored vehicles were received for the first time by units of the combined arms armies of the Central Military District (CVO) stationed in the Novosibirsk and Samara regions," the report says.
The military personnel of the district units, where the new equipment was received, began to master it, fulfilling the standards for maintenance and driving in various conditions.
The Typhoonenok armored car is designed to transport personnel and cargo, as well as to protect them from small arms and explosive devices during combat training tasks. Inside the armored hull of the combat vehicle, there are ten seats for the crew and landing troops: four seats (including the commander and driver) are located facing forward in the direction of movement, the remaining six are located in the aft landing compartment at the sides.
Structurally, the armored car is made on a chassis with a 4x4 wheel formula and is equipped with an automatic transmission. With a curb weight of almost 14 tons, the car is able to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, having a power reserve of 800-850 km. The armored body of the Typhoon is able to protect the crew and troops from armor-piercing bullets of a 7.62 mm cartridge and fragments of artillery shells.
