TSAMTO, September 8. The Pacific Fleet received the first batch of AK-12 submachine guns. In the near future, the military personnel at the combat training grounds will conduct shooting and maintenance of new weapons.
The AK-12 5.45 mm automatic rifle has increased ergonomics and accuracy of shooting compared to previous versions of the AK-74M automatic rifle. The manufacturer also increased the survivability of the barrel, for the production of which they began to use a new technology.
AK-12 is positioned as a new platform, on the basis of which it is planned to produce weapons of different calibers and for various purposes – both military and civilian.
The machine gun was developed as part of the Ratnik program, as an element of a promising complex of equipment for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Russia, and at the end of 2018 it was adopted, the press service of the Eastern Military District reports.
