MOSCOW, 6 Sep-RIA Novosti. The Gorky Zelenodolsk Plant will launch a small Grad rocket ship of the project 21631 (Buyan-M), armed with Kalibr missiles, by the end of September, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov said.
The ships of the project have an increased displacement and are equipped with the latest high – precision long-range missile weapons-the universal Kalibr-NK missile system, designed to defeat sea and coastal targets. The purpose of the ships of the Buyan-M project is the protection and protection of the economic zone of the state.
Earlier, the general director of the Ak Bars shipbuilding corporation, Renat Mistakhov, told RIA Novosti that the Navy will receive the last three "Buyan-M" from a series of 12 ships in 2021,2022 and 2023.
Currently, the ships "Grad Sviyazhsk", "Uglich", "Veliky Ustyug", "Zeleny Dol", "Serpukhov", "Vyshny Volochek", "Orekhovo-Zuyevo", "Ingushetia" and "Grayvoron" of the same project serve on the Black Sea and Baltic fleets, as well as the Caspian Flotilla. "Buyany-M" took part in strikes with Kalibr-NK missile systems on terrorist targets in Syria from the Caspian Sea.
