What is necessary for the old Soviet tank of the early 60s T-62 to get a new life? In Algeria, they decided to massively remake these combat vehicles into a kind of BMPT.
According to local sources, from two to three hundred "sixty-second" can receive a combat squad "Berezhok" with a 30-mm 2A42 cannon, a 30-mm AG-30 automatic grenade launcher, a 7.62-mm machine gun and anti-tank guided missiles "Kornet".
Previously, this combat compartment was used for the modernization of several hundred BMP-1 and BMP-2.

Judging by the images that appeared on the Network, the hulls of the tanks will be modified for the installation of the "Berezhka". They will also receive additional protection, including dynamic, and side anti-accumulation screens. Perhaps, as with the previously upgraded T-55MV, the engine power will increase.
Such a conversion of the medium tank into a new armored vehicle, which is supposed to be called the BMPT-62, will significantly increase the capabilities of the Algerian ground forces in the event of a possible military conflict with Morocco.
