INTERFAX-Russia continues to implement the contract signed 5 years ago with Myanmar for the supply of Yak-130 aircraft, as well as weapons and ammunition for them, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, told Interfax
"The contract for the supply of Yak-130 combat training aircraft and aviation equipment to Myanmar, including weapons and ammunition, was signed by the parties in December 2016. Currently, we are continuing the successful implementation of this transaction," Shugaev said.
According to him, the demand for the Yak-130 in the world remains at a high level, "because in its segment this aircraft is the best offer according to the criterion of "cost-effectiveness".
"In recent years, we have received several new requests from foreign partners for the Yak-130," the head of the Federal Customs Service said.
On the evening of September 3, the Russian Defense Ministry announced talks in Moscow between Deputy head of the Russian Military Department Alexander Fomin and Deputy head of the State Administrative Council of Myanmar So Win.

As Interfax reported, the Russian Federation is fulfilling contracts for the supply of two Pantsir-S1 short-range air defense systems, Su-30SME fighters, Orlan-10E reconnaissance drones and radar stations to Myanmar.
Russia is ready to provide equipment and weapons to all types of the armed forces of Myanmar, Alexander Mikheev, head of Rosoboronexport, told Interfax on August 24.
"Myanmar is one of the key partners of Rosoboronexport in Southeast Asia. The company is actively promoting Russian military products for all types of the armed forces to Myanmar," Mikheev said.
Currently, the Myanmar armed forces have Russian-made military equipment: Mi-24, Mi-35 and Mi-17 helicopters, MiG-29 fighters, Pechora-2 anti-aircraft missile systems.
The Yak-130 two-seat aircraft is designed for training and combat training of pilots, as well as striking air and ground targets. To date, the Russian Aerospace Forces have already received more than 100 such aircraft. The Russian Yak-130 was also acquired by Algeria, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos and Belarus.
