Vladivostok. September 4. INTERFAX-Russia in 2021 handed over to Sri Lanka the projects of two new arms contracts, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation Dmitry Shugaev said.
"Through diplomatic channels, in April 2021, we handed over to Sri Lanka the drafts of two contracts for the supply of military products. We are talking about BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and BRAM-K armored repair and evacuation vehicles, as well as Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters," Shugaev told reporters.
"Currently, our proposals are under consideration by the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka. We are waiting for the partners 'response," the head of the Federal Customs Service said.
In 2020, the Kommersant newspaper, citing a diplomatic source, reported that Moscow is ready to allocate about $500 million to Colombo for the purchase of six Su-30 fighters and a batch of BTR-82A armored personnel carriers on credit.
The Mi-171SH Storm transport and assault helicopter is designed for transporting personnel (up to 37 paratroopers), transporting cargo and equipment inside the cargo cabin or on an external suspension, landing tactical air landings, landing reconnaissance and sabotage groups, destroying ground objects and transporting the wounded.
