The construction of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome will be completed at the end of 2022. This was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin by the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin during a visit to the construction site, TASS reports
According to Rogozin, the construction itself will be completed in December next year, and then Roscosmos will begin conducting autonomous, and then complex tests of all the systems of the cosmodrome.
Ravil Ziganshin, General Director of Kazan Production and Construction Association LLC, noted that now the work is going on with a slight lag.
"We have a slight lag due to weather conditions, of course, we got caught this year: all our quarries were flooded. Now we have just started working at full capacity, " Ziganshin explained. However, he promised that the construction will be completed on time. According to him, work is currently underway on the last structure, and the situation allows us to catch up with the planned pace of work.
On September 3, Vladimir Putin visited the Vostochny cosmodrome and got acquainted with the construction of infrastructure facilities. He inspected the construction site of the Angara launch complex and the command post of the cosmodrome.
The Vostochny cosmodrome is being built in the Amur Region. Now the construction of the second stage is underway at the cosmodrome, which will allow launching carriers of the Angara family. The excavation of the pit for the launch complex began in June 2019. The first launch of the Angara is scheduled for 2023.
