The combat vehicle is created according to the Optional-Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program. The basis of its weapons is the 50-millimeter XM913 gun.
American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV), a part of the German concern Rheinmetall, demonstrated the appearance of an armored combat vehicle that is being created under the OMFV program.
Now this is one of the most important programs of the Pentagon. Its goal is to find a replacement for about 3,800 Bradley combat vehicles. The latter was created in the second half of the 1970s, it no longer fully meets the requirements.
American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV) firstly publicly revealed the rendering of its OMFV concept for the US Army. The OMFV program has a long and difficult fate. Last year, it was restarted, because the technical requirements presented before were difficult to implement.
And recently it became known that the US Army has chosen five proposals for the program - from General Dynamics Land Systems, BAE Systems, Rheinmetall, Oshkosh Defense and Point Blank Enterprises.
