MOSCOW, 31 Aug - RIA Novosti. Underwater drones for searching and escorting enemy submarines have already been created and are being tested in Russia, a representative of the Central Design Bureau of Marine Equipment (CCB MT) "Rubin"told RIA Novosti.
The Central Design Bureau of MT Rubin specializes in the design of submarines and underwater uninhabited vehicles. Currently, the Russian Navy has several types of submarines designed at Rubin, in particular, strategic nuclear-class "Borey" and non-nuclear-class "Varshavyanka".
He stressed that from the point of view of fighting under water, the most attractive task for uninhabited underwater vehicles is the search and escort of enemy submarines.
At the last forum "Army-2021", the Central Design Bureau of MT Rubin presented several new underwater developments for civil purposes, in particular, the Amulet-2 of the ultra-small class. It is designed to perform search, research and inspection work with a diving depth of up to 70 meters.
In addition, the autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicle Vityaz-D was presented at the Rubin stand, which was the first in the world to dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench (depth 11,022 meters). Previously, other uninhabited vehicles (for example, the Japanese Kaiko or the American Nereus) sank to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, however, unlike the Vityaz-D, they were not completely autonomous.
