MOSCOW, August 30. /TASS/. Almost all samples of modern Russian weapons were tested during the counter-terrorist operation in Syria. This was announced by the head of the Russian Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu in an exclusive interview for the YouTube channel "Solovyov Live".
"Syria, in which we have checked more than 320 [samples], we have checked almost all weapons except for the understandable ones," Shoigu informed.
According to him, the Russian defense industry has significantly strengthened its position in recent years. "For this purpose, a program for the modernization of the military-industrial complex was adopted, money was invested in enterprises," Shoigu said.
As the head of the Ministry of Defense noted, the supply of modern equipment to the troops has increased significantly recently. "The requirements for the implementation of the state defense order have sharply increased. Over these years, for nine years, we have received 15.5 thousand units of equipment to the ground forces. In 1999-2002, we received 10, a maximum of 19 aircraft, and this is all together-both planes and helicopters. Therefore, when we get 140-150 there every year today, it's a completely different story, " Shoigu added.
