TSAMTO, August 30. The ANPA-M underwater drone was developed for the Russian Navy, which interested the fleet command and was presented to the Minister of Defense, Army General Sergei Shoigu.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was announced by the representative of the developer (State Mortehuniversitet of St. Petersburg) Alexey Blinkov.
"Its main tasks are hydrology, bottom relief, measurement of ice thickness, salinity, temperature, water pressure and other parameters that are necessary, including for the use of weapons. The modules can be increased or reduced, and a battery compartment can be added in order to increase the autonomy, " A. Blinkov said.
He clarified that it was these technological innovations that interested the commander-in-chief of the Navy, who reported them to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.
A. Blinkov explained that the autonomy of the device is two hours, but with the help of additional battery compartments it can be increased. ANPA-M is a portable class drone, it weighs less than 10 kg, moves at a speed of up to 2.5 knots and dives to a depth of up to 50 m.
The new device can work in a group of similar systems that are based on marine robotic platforms, the agency notes.
