Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. August 30. INTERFAX-FAR EAST-The Environmental division of the Pacific Fleet (TOPF) of Kamchatka has started carrying out garbage collection in the Arctic, the press service of the Eastern Military District for the TOPF reported on Monday.
"The environmental division has started cleaning Wrangel Island from household garbage and used property," the report says.
The press service reminds that, according to the instructions of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in 2021, cleaning of the territory and garbage removal with the help of military vessels that will take it out for disposal continues on Wrangel Island.
On the eve of the military personnel of the ecological platoon arrived on the island on the sea tug "Andrey Stepanov".
According to the press service, before the end of the navigation period, more than 50 military personnel will be involved in the environmental event and 10 units of special equipment will be involved. The environmental division of the Pacific Fleet includes a bulldozer, modern cranes with a lifting capacity of 25 and 40 tons, scrap trucks based on the KAMAZ car with a manipulator crane, dump trucks, tracked conveyors, a tanker and bagging presses.
