"At the exit" is the medium-haul MS-21 and Baikal to replace the An-2 cornhusker
Moscow. August 29. INTERFAX-Russia is implementing a large program to create aircraft for domestic aviation, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"We started producing planes, we started producing helicopters. The output is MS-21. At the exit, the Baikal plane, which will stand up, will replace the An-2 aircraft. A big, big program and you can't even imagine how happy I am, " Shoigu said in an interview with the host of the Moscow program. The Kremlin. Putin" to Pavel Zarubin (Russia-1 TV channel, VGTRK).
The MS-21 is a medium-haul civil aircraft under development. The liner is focused on the most popular segment of the passenger transportation market. The aircraft is being created on the basis of the latest developments in the field of aircraft construction.
The MS-21 program is at the stage of certification testing and production of aircraft for the first customers.
The basic version of the aircraft with American PW1400 engines, which is currently undergoing certification tests, is called the MS-21-300. It is assumed that the customers of the aircraft will be able to choose which engine they will operate the aircraft with. It is also planned to produce versions of the MS-21-200 (from 132 to 165 seats) and MS-21-400 (up to 250 seats) in the future.
Four MS-21-300 aircraft participate in flight certification tests according to Russian and European standards. Two more aircraft are undergoing static and resource tests at TsAGI. In December 2020, flight tests of the MC-21-310 prototype aircraft, which is equipped with new Russian PD-14 engines, began.
The receipt of the Russian MS-21-300 certificate is scheduled for the end of 2021. Fully completed four aircraft will be transferred to the operating airline in 2022.
LMS-901 "Baikal" is a Russian light multi-purpose single-engine turboprop aircraft. The project was developed on the instructions and with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (the development contract was signed by a subsidiary of UZGA Baikal-Engineering) and the Moscow Aviation Institute as part of the state program for the development of small aircraft.
An-2 is a light multi-purpose biplane aircraft of the Soviet era (according to the NATO codification Colt - "Foal", in everyday use - "cornhusker"). It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the only aircraft in the world that has been produced for more than 70 years. It was produced in the USSR, Poland and continues to be produced in China. In total, more than 18 thousand An-2s were built. It was exported to 26 countries. Before the appearance of the An-3 aircraft, it was the world's largest single-engine biplane.
