The Ukrainian enterprise "Kharkiv Machine-Building Plant "FED" " will supply units for a heavy attack helicopter of the Turkish design ATAK-II. The corresponding contract was signed during the defense exhibition IDEF-2021, [...] Defense Express reports.
Viktor Popov, Chairman of the FED Management Board, noted that the company will produce flight control system and hydraulic system units. The development and delivery of new systems will take one year.
"This year, FED has signed three agreements with Turkish companies," Popov added. We are talking about two contracts related to the development of helicopters and participation in the development of the Turkish fifth-generation TF-X aircraft.
The TAI T929 ATAK-2 twin-engine attack helicopter is being developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). The machine with a claimed take-off weight of 10 tons can compete with the Russian Mi-28NM "Night Hunter" and the American AH-64 Apache. The ATAK-2 can carry over 1,200 kilograms of weapons, which will be supplemented by a 30-millimeter cannon. In July, the Defense Blog portal reported that TAI had signed a contract for the supply of 14 Ukrainian-made engines for a promising helicopter.
