The planned re-equipment of military units and formations of the Strategic Missile Forces allowed to increase the share of modern missile weapons to 81 percent by January 1, 2021 and give the Strategic Missile Forces group new opportunities to perform nuclear deterrence tasks. This was stated on Thursday, August 26 in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel on the sidelines of the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021" by the Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Fazletdinov.
According to him, the Missile Forces have a two-component structure: they are armed with stationary and mobile-based nuclear complexes. "Currently, the missile systems of stationary (mine) basing are in the combat composition of the Strategic Missile Forces: Stiletto, Voevoda, Topol-M, Yars, Avangard. The mobile-based grouping includes mobile ground-based missile systems "Topol", "Topol-M" and "Yars", - the general specified.
He spoke about the structure of the Missile Forces. It includes the command and headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces, missile armies and divisions, educational institutions (the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great, Serpukhov branch of the Academy, Perm Suvorov School, a network of training centers). As well as the 4th Central Research Institute, the State Central Interspecific Landfill and a network of arsenals.
The Chief of Staff of the Strategic Missile Forces noted that every year the command of the Missile Forces attracts industrial enterprises to the Army forum that perform research and development work in the interests of strategic rocket scientists. "The representation of the defense industry is becoming more solid every year. Compared to 2015, when we took part in the forum for the first time, the number of enterprises has tripled. This year, there are 30 organizations that will present about a thousand high-tech developments, " Fazletdinov stressed.
According to him, the pride of the static exhibition of the forum will undoubtedly be an autonomous launcher, a combat duty support vehicle, and a tropospheric communication vehicle MS-2. In addition, for the first time, the STAD-100 mobile nitrogen mining station is presented at the forum. It extracts oxygen and nitrogen from the atmospheric air. "The state and interdepartmental tests conducted have shown that this unit produces medical oxygen with a volume fraction of 99.8 percent, which is currently very important due to the known epidemic situation in the world," the general said.
