The construction of the Temp airfield on the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago is being completed
Moscow. August 26. INTERFAX-The Russian military department is developing a military infrastructure in the Arctic that allows the troops stationed in this region to function effectively, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The Ministry of Defense pays priority attention to strengthening the country's defense capability in the Arctic region. Most of the tasks to solve this issue are assigned to the Northern Fleet," Shoigu said on Thursday at a meeting of the board of the military department.
According to him, "the military infrastructure is being developed, which allows the troops stationed in this zone to function effectively."
"Administrative and residential complexes have been built on the islands of the Arctic Ocean, the system of basing in the Arctic is being improved. The created comfortable conditions of service and life for military personnel are under special control, " Shoigu stressed.
He said that by the end of the year it is planned to complete the construction of a residential complex of eight houses for 486 apartments in the city of Gadzhievo. "Thus, the issue of providing official housing to the submariners of the garrison will be completely resolved," the Defense Minister noted.
"The construction of the Temp airfield on the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago is being completed. A military camp is being built for the Third Air Defense Division in the village of Tiksi of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), " Shoigu said.
According to him, 147 buildings and structures are planned to be built in the Northern Fleet this year.
"At the moment, 64 objects have been commissioned," the minister said.
