The Mi-17 transport helicopter of the Mexican Navy was damaged after a hard landing in the town of Agua Blanca in the state of Hidalgo.
On board were officials who were going to assess the consequences of a natural disaster in the state of Veracruz after the recent hurricane Grace there.
Judging by the videos that appeared on the Network, the rotorcraft lost control almost immediately after takeoff. The "Seventeenth" was led to the side, and after making several turns in the air, it touched a slow-moving minibus when falling.
The collision was tangential, it fell on the back, and the driver of the vehicle was able to continue driving, saving his passengers, and the helicopter was thrown a little, after which it finally collapsed to the ground. The rapidly rotating propellers began to beat against the ground and, falling apart, fly apart in different directions. The tail boom also came off. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured, and four people on board received minor injuries. Currently, the causes of the incident are being established.
Mexico traditionally operates Russian-made helicopters. At various times, Mi-2, Mi-8T, Mi-17, Mi-17-1B, Mi-17-B5, Mi-26, as well as combat Mi-24P were purchased.
