Kubinka (Moscow region). August 26. INTERFAX-The main forces of the Caspian Flotilla (Cfl) have been relocated to the territory of Dagestan, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov said.
"First, the first stage was built and all auxiliary vessels were relocated, and now all the main vessels are already there," Ivanov said on the Zvezda TV channel.
On April 2, 2018, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the decision to transfer the Cfl from Astrakhan to a new base area in Dagestan. The process of transferring the headquarters and management of the flotilla, its main forces from Astrakhan to Makhachkala and Kaspiysk (Dagestan) was completed about a year ago.
Cfl is an operational association of the Russian Navy. Along with the Black Sea Fleet - the marine component of the Southern Military District. The flotilla ensures the national and state interests of Russia in the Caspian Sea region: it conducts anti-terrorist measures, is engaged in the protection of trade, the protection of state interests in the area of oil fields.
