KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 24. /TASS/. Roscosmos has formed proposals for the creation of a group of satellites for environmental monitoring in Russia. They have already been sent to the government, the general director of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin said in an interview with TASS at the International military-Technical Forum "Army-2021".
"We have formulated our proposals, they have been sent to the government," he said, answering the question whether a decision has already been made to create such a group.
According to the head of Roscosmos, the proposals contain two options on the topic of so-called carbon units. The first involves the creation of a new full-fledged grouping of small satellites that will only be engaged in environmental monitoring and promptly drop information to the Ground and process it.
"Or the second option. This is an operational decision-making in order to hang these sensors - additional equipment - on a promising orbital grouping of remote sensing of the Earth," the general director of the state corporation added.
To implement the second option, Rogozin explained, it is necessary to finalize the circuit design so that the device has enough power and fuel. "Prototypes of this equipment are available in the industry. I was confirmed by RKS JSC that when setting tasks, they will promptly submit their views on this matter, " Rogozin said.
Carbon units
In the future, it is necessary for the federal executive authorities to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to form unified international standards for carbon units.
At the beginning of June, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that a fundamentally new market is being created in the world, where so-called carbon units will be traded. According to him, this is a kind of asset that characterizes the volume of absorption of harmful emissions into the atmosphere by a plot of land or a forest.
