Russia has introduced a new system of protection against high-precision weapons. The small-sized complex of fired interference MGK VP KT-60 was developed by scientists of the Institute of Applied Physics (JSC "IPF"). The premiere of the device took place at the International military-technical Forum "Army-2021", — reports TASS .
The MGK VP KT-60 complex is designed to protect boats from weapons that use guidance in the infrared and visible wave range, or by a laser beam. The system can protect equipment from melee weapons and from high-precision systems.
At the Army-2021 forum, they showed the launch system of the complex, and grenades that shoot interference. Representatives of the Institute noted that the system can be used not only on boats, but also on land armored vehicles.
One launcher can release up to five grenades. One munition is capable of creating a curtain with an area of up to one hundred square meters at a distance of 70 to 100 meters from the object of protection. The system can shoot grenades both in one shot and in single mode. Thanks to the grenade's jamming equipment, the cloud can hang over the protected object for a long time.
Representatives of the Institute noted that the device was successfully tested in the Black Sea Fleet. The installation of the MGK VP KT-60 can protect surface ships from small-sized bombs and missiles using laser beam guidance.
