"The AK-12 is a machine gun for the next decades, because it significantly exceeds the AK-74 in terms of efficiency of use and fully meets all the requirements for modern small arms," the press service reported.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry signed contracts with the Kalashnikov Group of Companies for the supply of batches of anti-aircraft missiles and AK-12 submachine guns within the framework of the Army-2021 forum.
The concern reported that a long-term contract was signed for the supply of hundreds of thousands of AK-12 assault rifles.
In January 2018, the Ministry of Defense announced the decision to adopt new Kalashnikov concern submachine guns - AK-12 (5.45 mm caliber), AK-15 (7.62 mm).
