The Strela KBM MIC SUV presented at the Army-2021 forum was created by students and graduates of Bauman Moscow State Technical University together with specialists of the Military-Industrial Company. In the future, the civilian Strela can get a seven-seat version and an automatic rifle, said Nikita Lozhkin, head of the calculation department of the Youth Design Bureau of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, in an interview with RG.
One of the main features of the new SUV was the widespread use of components and assemblies from the Gazelle Next car.
"We took the main and most expensive elements - this is the engine, transmission, suspension elements, frame. They were used when creating the layout of the car. A number of cabin parts were also borrowed, " Nikita Lozhkin said.
According to him, the Strela KBM MIC is primarily a civilian car. The version presented at the forum is equipped with a removable top - the rear part of the body can be made completely open. In the future, there may be other versions of the pickup car and a full-fledged SUV.
"The standard interior elements from Gazelle Next are used to the maximum: a torpedo, a steering wheel, airbags, electrical equipment. Functionally, the Strela KBM MIC today completely repeats the basic car, " said the representative of the developer.
At the moment, the SUV uses a P-4 Cummins ISF2 diesel engine.8. At the same time, it is possible to use domestic power units. The transmission is manual, 6-speed.
In the future, it is planned to use the new NN platform, which will allow creating a full-fledged all-wheel drive car with a fully independent suspension. It is planned that the Strela can be equipped with both a manual and a robotic gearbox.
Already, various options for the configuration of the cabin are provided, including the option for seven people. In the five-seat version, the Strela boasts a spacious trunk.
According to the developers, the car may be of interest not only to ordinary citizens, but also to forestry, fish supervision and other departments, whose employees often have to travel long distances in off-road conditions. In addition, a spacious SUV can also find application in law enforcement agencies.
