KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 24. /TASS/. By the end of the month, Roscosmos will again send the Sphere program to the Russian government to create a multi-satellite grouping. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the general director of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin at the International military-Technical Forum "Army-2021".
"It was sent to the government at least twice. Now it is undergoing another approval, including taking into account the updated parameters. In general, it is in a high degree of readiness, and by the end of this month it should be submitted to the government again," Rogozin said.
According to the head of Roscosmos, some Earth remote sensing satellites have a resource that ends in 2023-2024. Therefore, Rogozin is convinced that the work should be opened immediately.
"I hope that we will finally accept it during September-October," the general director of the state corporation said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the Sphere program on a direct line on June 7, 2018. Then he noted that the Russian Federation plans to launch more than 600 communication satellites and remote sensing of the Earth. In December 2020, a source told TASS that the work for 2021 has already been determined. Earlier, the executive director of Roscosmos for advanced programs and science, Alexander Bloshenko, told TASS that the main performers had started work on the Sphere program.
