The holding clarified that they are working on the possibility of installing the Berezhka on new types of chassis
KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 24. /TASS/. Design Bureau of Instrument Engineering (KBP) named after Academician A. G. Shipunov (part of the Rostec High-Precision Complexes holding) has begun to modernize the Berezhok complex, designed to equip infantry fighting vehicles. This was reported to TASS in the press service of "High-precision complexes" during the International military-technical Forum "Army-2021".
"At present, the KBP has started to modernize the Berezhok combat department in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation," the holding informed.
As emphasized in the "High-precision complexes", the possibility of installing the "Berezhka" on new types of chassis is being worked out. "When creating the Berezhok combat compartment, it was supposed to be installed on various carriers, both tracked and wheeled. The KBP has experience in installing the Berezhok combat compartment on the BMP-3 chassis. Every year, within the framework of the Army forum, a combat vehicle "Lean" is fired - a K-17 "Boomerang" wheeled chassis with a "Berezhok" combat compartment installed, " the press service reported.
Currently, the Russian army is receiving a BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicle with the Berezhok combat module. It is designed to transport personnel, increase their mobility, armament and security on the battlefield. As a result of the modernization, the machine is able to fire afloat and on the move at any time of the day. It is claimed that the combat capabilities of the BMP-2M have increased approximately fourfold.
