The nuclear submarine "Kuzbass" of the Pacific Fleet returned to its home base in the city of Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka Territory, after a long performance of combat missions at sea. This was announced on Tuesday, August 24, the press service of the TOPF reported.
At the point of permanent deployment of the Submarine Forces of the Pacific Fleet, submariners were met by the command of the association, staff officers, the city administration, as well as navy veterans, relatives and friends.
The commander of the Kuzbass submarine reported that the personnel had completed the task, were healthy and ready to carry out new orders.
In turn, the acting commander of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet, Hero of Russia Rear Admiral Valery Varfolomeev, congratulated the crew on the successful completion of the combat mission and, according to tradition, handed the submariners a fried pig.
The event ended with a solemn awarding of the most distinguished servicemen.
The Kuzbass submarine is a multi-purpose nuclear submarine of the 3rd generation of the project 971 "Pike-B", has a high stealth, is capable of diving to a depth of up to 600 m, and the autonomy of its navigation is 100 days.
On the eve of the opening of the international military-technical forum "Army-2021", Russian President Vladimir Putin said that on August 23, four submarines, including two nuclear missile carriers, were laid at Russian shipyards. In addition, the construction of two warships has begun in the country.
Also on Monday, Putin said that the share of modern weapons in Russia's strategic nuclear forces exceeds 80%.
