Moscow. August 23. INTERFAX-A detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet performing the tasks of a long-distance campaign in the Mediterranean Sea has entered the port of Algiers (the capital of the state of the same name in North Africa), the press service of the Northern Fleet (SF) reports.
"Today, a detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet, performing the tasks of a long-distance campaign in the Mediterranean Sea, made a business call to the port city of Algiers - the capital of the state of the same name in North Africa. The detachment includes a large anti-submarine ship "Vice Admiral Kulakov", a rescue and towing vessel "Altai" and a medium sea tanker "Akademik Pashin," the SF said in a statement.
The press service noted that the program of the ships ' approach provides for a number of protocol events with the participation of the command of the detachment of ships and the command of the Central Naval Area of the Algerian Navy.
"It is planned that the Russian ship will be visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Algeria," the press service noted.
During their stay in a foreign port, a large anti-submarine ship and support vessels of the Northern Fleet will replenish fresh water and food supplies, the sailors will be given time to rest.
The business visit of a detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet to Algeria will last until Wednesday, the SF added. From the main base of the SF of the city of Severomorsk, "Vice Admiral Kulakov" left on June 28.
