TSAMTO, August 23. The newest logistics support vessel of the Navy "Vsevolod Bobrov", on which the St. Andrew's flag was raised on August 21, will begin an inter-fleet transition from Kronstadt to the Black Sea Fleet by the end of August. Currently, the vessel is being prepared for the transition.
This was announced by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, following a meeting at the Admiralty, where issues of surface shipbuilding were considered.
The day before, in Kronstadt, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on the logistics support vessel Vsevolod Bobrov of project 23120, built by shipbuilders of the Northern Shipyard. The ship was accepted into the Navy by order of the Commander-in-chief of the Navy.
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy for Armament, Vice Admiral Igor Mukhametshin, who participated in the ceremony, congratulated the shipbuilders of the Northern Shipyard on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy on the professionally performed work during the construction and testing of the naval logistics vessel Vsevolod Bobrov. He conveyed to the participants of the ceremony the words of Admiral Nikolai Evmenov that " the vessel will strengthen the potential of the auxiliary fleet of the Black Sea Fleet and will be able to perform a wide range of tasks for its intended purpose."
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the management of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the designer, the widow of the famous athlete Elena Bobrova, Olympic champions in ice hockey, multiple world and European champions in the USSR national team Stanislav Petukhov and Vasily Pervukhin.
General Director of the Northern Shipyard Igor Orlov, speaking at the ceremony, noted that " the ship confirmed the functions that the fleet expected from it. The name of the ship means a lot, and the name of Vsevolod Bobrov is very symbolic. To be able to solve many problems, and always do it with dignity, proudly carrying the flag –this was the man Vsevolod Bobrov. I am sure that the name and actions of the ship will correspond to each other."
The logistics support vessel of the project 23120 is designed for cargo transportation, towing, hydrographic research, assistance to ships in distress. The hull with the ARC4 ice class is designed to overcome ice with a thickness of 0.6 m.
Vsevolod Bobrov is the second vessel of the project 23120, built at the Northern Shipyard for the Black Sea Fleet. The lead vessel, the Elbrus, joined the squadron of support vessels of the auxiliary fleet service of the Joint Strategic Command of the Northern Fleet in 2018, according to the Information Support Group of the Navy.
