The Ares shipyard, located in Turkey, will create a drone that destroys submarines. This was stated by the general director of the shipyard Utku Alanc on Friday during the IDEF-2021 exhibition in Istanbul, [...] Daily Sabah reports.
The unmanned anti-submarine warfare (Anti-submarine warfare — ASW) will be able to complement other Ares unmanned ships, the first of which was the ULAQ AUSV. "Our project of an unmanned anti-submarine combat boat has been completed. We are doing everything possible to present it in 2021, " Utku Alanch said in an interview with the Anadolu agency.
According to the representative of Ares, the anti-submarine drone will be produced jointly with the company Mateksan Defense. Ninety percent of the units used in the production of the drone are made in Turkey, including weapons systems, " Alanch stressed.
Ares representative noted that after the start of mass production, the shipyard can produce up to fifty unmanned vehicles per year. Initially, the products were developed for the needs of the Turkish security forces, but in the future it is planned to export drones.
Recall that the UAV ULAQ USV has an autonomous navigation range of up to 400 kilometers, and the maximum speed is 65 kilometers per hour. The ship received a surveillance system with a day and night channel, as well as an encrypted communication module.
The ULAQ USV armament consists of a launcher with four Cirit missiles, and two L-UMTAS long-range anti-tank missiles. The autonomous vehicle with remote control can be used for reconnaissance, convoy missions, and protection of strategic objects.
