TSAMTO, August 20. At the IDEF-2021 exhibition held in Istanbul, the Turkish company FNSS presented a new version of the Shadow Rider modular ground-based remotely controlled vehicle (DUM).
According to FNSS, the DOOM version of Combat is designed taking into account modern technologies in the field of robotics and autonomous systems for use in modern combat operations. The vehicle is armed with a specially designed turret-type DUMV with a 25-mm automatic cannon. The command to open fire is given by the operator.
The conceptual model of the DOOM was officially presented for the first time at the IDEF-2019 exhibition. The Shadow Rider family is equipped with a self-sufficiency kit developed by FNSS with an open architecture for rapid adaptation of new technologies, as well as a satellite navigation system resistant to interference. The vehicle developed on the basis of the M-113 BMP can be used to perform a wide range of tasks, including fire support, reconnaissance, communication relay and supply of units. At the same time, the possibility of direct driving by a mechanic-driver remains.
The DUM has a combat weight of 13.5 tons and a load capacity of 4500 kg, is equipped with a diesel engine, an automatic transmission, can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h on the highway, a power reserve of more than 450 km. The machine allows you to patrol along a programmed route, follow the leader, independently return to the base in case of loss of communication with the detection and avoidance of obstacles. The DOOM is able to overcome a 60% rise, vertical obstacles 60 cm high, trenches 160 cm wide. It is possible to transport the car by air by VTA A-400M and C-130 "Hercules" aircraft.
