Engineering units of the Southern Military District (SE) will work out new techniques and methods of performing engineering support tasks, including those developed on the basis of Syrian combat experience, during special exercises.
For operational equipment of protective fortifications of control points, they use bulk-type gabions GNT-1, GNT-2, as well as GNT-5 and GNT-6 gabions, the installation of which is carried out in a mechanized way.
During the engineering support of the troops in the conditions of their maneuver defense, the engineering units will use the "Syrian shaft" tactic, which ensures the creation of bulk shelters for armored vehicles during the battle.
In order to protect and disguise combat units and command posts, military engineers will perform tasks to equip false control points.
Special exercises with engineering units and military units to support the troops of the Southern Military District will be held simultaneously on the territory of ten training grounds in the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, in Dagestan and the Crimea, as well as at military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
