A modernized Soviet tank was noticed during a rehearsal of a military parade in Kiev. This is reported by the blog andrey-bt. The T-64BM2 tank differs from the base model with a new engine. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has ordered twelve modernized vehicles.
The T-64BM2 tank is an upgrade of the Soviet T-64. The main difference of the car was the 6TD-1 engine with a capacity of 1000 horsepower. With the new unit, the specific power of the machine increased to 22.2 horsepower per ton-instead of 18.9 in a tank with an 850 horsepower engine.
To install the new engine, the designers increased the dimensions of the tank in the aft part. The T-64BM2 is being developed by the Malyshev Kharkiv Plant under the leadership of the Central Armored Directorate of Ukraine.
In an interview with the publication "Ukrinform", the head of the armored vehicles department of the state concern "Ukroboronprom" Yevgeny Anfalov previously reported that twelve ordered tanks should be delivered to the customer in the second decade of August. It was clarified that in order to save time, Ukrainian tank builders had to use welders from the Turboatom plant.
