The Russian armored repair and evacuation vehicle (BRAM) T-16 "Armata" is distinguished from similar products of previous generations by the presence of a manipulator that can lift up to one and a half tons, as well as the increased height and load capacity of the crane, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The correspondents of the publication visited the 38th Research and Testing Institute of Armored Weapons and Equipment, where they were shown the new BRAM in detail.
"The special equipment of the latest BRAM, in addition to the manipulator and crane, includes the main traction winch, an auxiliary winch, a cargo platform, a bulldozer coulter, a mechanized hitch, towing means, as well as a set of spare parts and a set of tools," the newspaper writes.
According to the institute, there is a lot of space inside the T-16 "Armata", as a result of which, in particular, this BRAM received a climate control system, a place for a device for cooking and boiling water.
In November 2020, Zvezda, referring to data from confidential sources in the military-industrial complex, reported that a fundamentally new generation of Russian tanks, which, in particular, can replace the T-14 Armata vehicles, can receive an electrothermochemical gun (ETH).
Work on the universal tracked platform "Armata" was carried out in 2009-2015. The contract between the Russian Defense Ministry and Uralvagonzavod involves the delivery of 132 vehicles based on the Armata platform (T-14 tank, T-15 BMP and T-16 BRAM) from the end of 2018 to the end of 2021.
