The reaction time and decision-making is much faster, but the machine itself does not yet know how to think, said Mikhail Osyko, a member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission of Russia
MOSCOW, August 19. /TASS/. The current level of development of artificial intelligence in the Russian Federation allows it to be used for target recognition and assistance in piloting. This opinion was expressed in an interview with TASS on the eve of the international forum "Army-2021" by Mikhail Osyko, a member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission (MIC) of the Russian Federation.
"Of course, artificial intelligence is primarily used in robotics, solving problems of selection and target recognition, assistance in driving or piloting. At the same time, the reaction time and making the right decision is much faster than a person could react. But the machine itself does not know how to think yet, " he said.
Osyko explained that currently artificial intelligence is a computer program that, by analyzing the existing database, solves the task with a high degree of probability. "For example, a million pictures of a tank were uploaded to it in different phono-target settings, and if she receives a picture with an unknown object on it, she will tell exactly whether it is a tank or not, due to the fact that she has a million previous pictures," he added.
