TSAMTO, August 18. By 2024, the Russian Navy plans to receive the entire series of 6 DPLS of Project 636.3, which are being built at the Admiralty Shipyards purposefully to equip the Submarine Forces of the Pacific Fleet.
This was announced by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, following the results of a working meeting where issues of underwater shipbuilding were considered.
According to him, "the third submarine of this series, the Magadan, is currently undergoing state tests. These submarines have excellent stealth characteristics and are equipped with high-precision weapons, which allows them to effectively perform their intended tasks."
On Monday, August 16, JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) began state tests of a large diesel-electric submarine of the project 636.3 "Magadan".
During the tests, the specialists of the enterprise and the crew of the Magadan DPL will have to check the operation of all ship's devices, mechanisms and equipment, including hydroacoustic and navigation systems. During the implementation of the test program, the submarine will also perform deep-sea dives, the ship's controllability will be evaluated at different navigational depths. After working out the program of state tests, the Magadan DPL will return to the enterprise, where it will undergo an audit and finishing.
"Magadan" is the third submarine of the series for the Pacific Fleet, launched on March 26 this year in a high, 91%, degree of readiness. The submarine was laid down on November 1, 2019 and will be transferred to the Russian Navy in November 2021, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.
