According to the website, the purchase of the Frigate Acquisition Project 3A (Torpedoes) was the result of negotiations that ended on December 10, 2020. The final auction was held on January 26-28, 2021. The order was placed on April 21, 2021.
At the moment, the Minister of National Defense, Delfin Lorenzana, has signed a "Notification of the provision of an order".
Currently, the Philippine Navy has two Jose Rizal-class URO frigates built by the South Korean company Hyundai Heavy Industries. The ships were delivered with an incomplete set of weapons.
As reported by CAMTO, in May 2021, the Philippine government allocated about 12 billion Philippine pesos ($252 million) to finance purchases under the second stage (Horizon-2) of the program for the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In particular, 766.3 million Philippine pesos were allocated for torpedoes for two Jose Rizal-class URO frigates of the Philippine Navy.
